Dual Safety Valves with Chain Drive – Another Customer-Specific Solution, Developed and Realized by AWP

The engineering design and development department at AWP works closely with customers on individual solutions and their performance requirements. For a special project of one of our biggest customers they designed a dual safety valve with a 3-way valve on the inlet as well as one on the outlet.

Both 3-way valves are connected by a chain drive to ensure that they are always actuated simultaneously. The main reason for installing dual safety valves is that maintenance is facilitated a lot. One safety valve can be disassembled while the other one provides security for the operation of the plant. For this special project a nominal diameter of DN 100 (4″) was required with the entire item being manufactured with ASME material with flanges as per ANSI 300lbs. At a net wheight of 247 kg / 544.5 lbs and a size of approx. 80 x 80 x 70 cm (32 x 32 x 28 in.) the finally assembled component widely exceeded the dimensions of regular dual safety valves which usually are much smaller.
